How To Tile A Doll House Roof
How To Tile A Dolls House Roof. This blog post is about how to tile the side of the doll house. I have covered how to tile the main dolls house roof in this post if you want to learn more. Sometimes you will need to tile a tricky angled part of your doll house and in this tutorial I will show you how I tackle an angled section of a dolls house. First I like to set out all of my tools and things I will need. Having a cutting mat is nice but not essential. When tiling always start from the bottom and work upwards to get the realistic look you want. Put a line of glue down along the same line as you want to tile (see pic above)
Once you have reached the end of the first row you will now have to navigate the angle of the roof and to do this I place the tile on the roof as it would be, then I take a pencil and mark in two places along the roof line where I need to cut. Take your time with this as you can easily cut a line that’s not right and my advice is to measure twice and cut once. TinyTiles are easy to mark and cut. Just place the ruler down and take a sharp craft knife and lightly score along your desired line. Then just take the tile and it will snap neatly along the line you have made. Then place down and glue in place. Another tip is to keep all off cuts as you can use them for the small end pieces you will need. Once you have finished the first row you can repeat what you have done moving up the roof until you reach the top (see image below)
Once you have finished the section and let it dry you can go back and touch up any white lines that you might have exposed due to cutting. Just take any grey you might have and use a small brush to touch up the exposed white.
Finished! If you want to add any addition weathering effects then feel free as my tiles are fully waterproof. If you want to use any paints mixed with thinners then I would advise matt varnishing first to give an additional layer of protection. I will be covering how to add weathering effects in future blogs so stay tuned!
